English Vinglish!! — A Workshop for Teachers

English language is not as easy as it seems.  We at times get stuck when children ask us “Is it ie or ei in receive?” and how do we write thief “ief or eif?” Why do we double the consonant before adding a suffix for some words and not for all? Examples: Shopping and Jumping. These are the doubts which become difficult for the teachers to explain at times.

On 22nd January, Ms. Pushpa conducted a one-hour workshop focusing different spelling rules and syllabication for all the teachers from Grade I to V. It was a good interactive session and quite a few strategies to teach spellings were developed.
