Fitness with Yoga

Grade 1 was engrossed in practicing yoga in the sun. The class took advantage of the pleasant winter and decided to conduct yoga outdoors. Students were seen practicing various asanas. The yoga class started with some warm-up exercises and deep breathing exercises after which students practiced basic animal poses, such as pigeon, locust, peacock, dolphin, lizard or frog, and imagined what it is really like to “be” this particular animal.   These classes not only help them to remain fit but also help in developing connection and compassion for each of the animals with which we share the world — even if it is just for a moment.
