We are an IB World School now!

Oakridge Einstein campus has earned the distinction of being an International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme World School, authorized to offer the rigorous and acclaimed Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Congratulations to the entire teacher and student community!

Becoming an IB World School is a lengthy, rigorous process. Since 2009, teachers worked together to develop a curriculum that is consistent with the inquiry-based philosophy of the PYP program. The students have been benefitting from this new approach and the way it capitalizes on their strengths and interests.

School had a prelim visit in 2010, a pre-authorization visit in 2011, and then, in the second week of March 2012, school had a verification visit by a team from the IB office. The team met with administrators, teachers, specialists and parents, and evaluated the schools’ preparedness to continue to implement the PYP. After the visit, the teams reported their findings to the IB offices, who have determined that our campus should be authorized as an IB World School.

In the green spirit

The IB Team which visited our campus last week, which comprised of Mr. Mario Gauci and Ms. Neeti Balla, planted saplings in the school's green zone. The Principal and Vice-Principal escorted them and shared with them the truly green experience of the plantation drive that was carried out in the campus in the form of an event named ’Nurturing Nature’, where children planted the 150 little saplings in their respective zones.

The guests also wished to drop in again to see their trees growing and their names engraved on the barks of the trees.

Honored to have an IB PYP Authorization visit by IB team

“True ideas are those that we can assimilate, validate, corroborate, and verify. False ideas are those that we cannot.” To validate all the inquiring, exploring and learning as well as to verify the process and progress of our IB PYP curriculum at Oakridge International School, Einstein Campus, a team from IB was invited. The team comprised of Mr. Mario Gauci, the team Head who is Vice Principal of Canadian International School, Singapore and team member Ms. Neeti Balla, Headmistress of Genesis International School, New Delhi.

They visited the school for a two-day PYP Authorization visit on 14th March, 2012. They were delighted to see the enthusiasm among children and teachers. Escorted by our PYP coordinator, Ms. Mubeen Safura, they had a school tour and appreciated the infrastructure, especially the spacious classrooms. They visited the classrooms, interacted with children and became a part in their journey of Inquiry. They also had one-on-one meetings with homeroom teachers, specialists, PYP coordinator and Senior Management team as per the schedule. The grouping strategies, transdisciplinary approach, focus on mother tongue, use of Library and ICT, soft board displays
of their learning journey, intensive planners and documentation impressed them a lot.

Day 2, 15th March 2012 also gave us an opportunity to spare some time for a memorable activity, Tree plantation. The visit concluded with a short formal gathering wherein they appreciated the efforts of the school to take up the curriculum in its true spirit and we also expressed our heartiest gratitude and greetings. The detailed report on our strengths and challenges and their suggestions is eagerly awaited so that we can move further by working on our challenges andimprovise our strengths to achieve the newer milestones.
