Making the PYP Happen- Day 1

We have an in school workshop- 'Making the PYP Happen', over these 3 days. Nicole Ginnane, our workshop leader, is from Australia. She is working as a teacher in an International school since many years. She has been working with PYP for 11 years and she is PYP coordinator since last 7 years.

She first introduced us to PYP, telling us its history and its place in the IB. We also discussed about how students in the 21st century are faced with challenge of learning about an interconnected world where knowledge is constantly developing. She told us the importance of developing essential agreements in a year. Her PPT showed interesting photos of different essential agreements made in their school. We also made some essential agreements to be followed during the 3 days of workshop.

Next was the book reading session by Ms. Nicole. The book- 'The North Star, is filled with magical watercolor illustrations and text by Peter Reynolds. We did various activities such as Concentric Circles, Human Graphing, Think-Pair-Share, Compass Point Thinking Routine, etc. Each group made various charts. First day was very informative and full of activities as well.
