A New Approach

Students of IX grade have done the chemistry activities before the teaching sessions as a part of ABC (Activity before content) approach. As the unit started with activities where students were provided with materials and instructions of how to proceed with the activity. All of them involved actively and were almost like junior chemists as they were not aware of what would happen as a result of the reaction and what materials have been used. They were all happy to see the sudden characteristic changes after every activity. They recorded all the observations. These observations served as the entry points into the unit as there was a discussion followed by the activities with several guiding questions. This kind of activity is good as it is hands on and moving from unknown to known with their learning experience as a transducer.
