Extended Family

The learners of PP2 Oakridge International School, Einstein campus, Hyderabad, visited DRS International School for making friends in connection with the unit of inquiry ‘Family and Friends’ on 28th July, 2011. This Student Exchange Programme was aimed at developing social and communication skills as well as applying their learning of making friends. The learners were thus facilitated to be risk takers and interact with an unknown group and make friends being open minded. Thus, promoting internationalism was the key driving force for the program. The little learners of DRSIS welcomed all the OIS learners with great enthusiasm. They prepared interesting stories with colorful display and narrated them well.

Then the children of both the schools talked freely to know each other and made friends. They recited rhymes, played with toys and listened to stories together. They also exchanged gifts. DRSIS kids tied lovely friendship bands on their new friends’ wrists. Tiny tots of OIS gave them friendship cards which they prepared with different art work like collage, sand painting, vegetable painting, finger printing etc. They also presented ‘Friendship Saplings’ to the DRSIS kids so that they can take care of the saplings and have sweet remembrance of their friendship forever. The day ended with yummy cupcakes and sweet lime juice. Over all, the student exchange program was a great success and led to lot of learning and skills enhancement.
